DKP Program Assistant
David Bates is a writing instruction research assistant at the Democratic Knowledge Project, primarily working on Unit 5 of the pilot curriculum, “Writing for Democracy.” He is currently in the reading specialist licensure program at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. Prior to HGSE, David earned a BA in English from the University of Rochester and an MA in the humanities from the University of Chicago, and he has taught at a public school in Tulsa as well as at a charter school in Boston. He enjoys helping his students develop their literacy abilities along with raising their critical consciousness.
