DKP Launch Operations Manager- Job Description

Who We Are

The Democratic Knowledge Project (DKP) is a civic education initiative focused on curricular resource co-creation with educators, assessment innovation, professional learning, civic learning research, and national thought leadership. The DKP, originally founded by Harvard faculty member Dr. Danielle Allen at Harvard University, has evolved into two partnership entities- DKP Learn (the research and development arm) and DKP Launch (the implementation arm). DKP Learn remains at Harvard, while DKP Launch is based out of Partners in Democracy-Education, a 501c3 nonprofit through a fiscal sponsorship with Goodnation. Dr. Allen is President of Partners in Democracy-Education; two long-standing DKP leadership staff will be leading DKP Launch.

The DKP co-designed a year-long 8th grade civics curriculum (Civic Engagement in Our Democracy) in partnership with Massachusetts educators. The curriculum is aligned to both MA state standards for history and social studies and national best practices for high quality K-12 history and civics learning through the Educating for American Democracy Roadmap. The MA Dept of Elementary and Secondary Education recognized Civic Engagement in Our Democracy as the most highly rated out of 4 comprehensive curricula they selected (from 100 reviewed) for 8th grade civics. The DKP released the curriculum free and open access on a virtual curriculum platform in summer 2023. DKP launch is now poised to achieve implementation at scale for the curriculum in Massachusetts through professional learning opportunities, implementation resources, on-the-ground context-specific implementation support, and community and network building opportunities.
