Workshop – Truth and Empowerment: Approaches to Teaching Histories of Oppression and Resistance

Description: In this workshop, we will explore tools that support teaching students about histories of oppression and resistance in the United States. We’ll outline racial-ethnic identity development, introduce co-processing (an approach to discussing complex topics in the classroom), and explain how unpacking histories of enslavement and genocide can promote engagement and agency in students. We will apply these tools to historical case studies.
